Wit and Wisdom From Joel

My brother knows I’ve been down in the dumps so he bought me one of those page-a-day calendars featuring televangelist Joel Osteen. Printed on each day is a story from his inspiring megachurch sermons. I don’t totally “get” the lesson in all of them, but I guess that doesn’t make them any less true. Here’s today’s bit of wisdom from Joel!
I’m going to tell you a story. It’s a story about what happens when you expect bad things and when you expect good things: There was a man. This man was in despair. He had lost his job. His house had been washed away in a great flood. He expected he would not find a new place to work. He expected he would not be able to rebuild his house. One day this man was walking home from the market. He had spent his last dollar on a loaf of bread for dinner. As the man walked the path to his home, a robed figure jumped in front of him, grabbed the man’s bread, threw it on the ground and stomped on it. The man looked at this person and asked, “Why did you do that?” The figure removed his robe and said, “Because I am the LORD,” and ran away snickering.
Today, that man has three beautiful children and runs a Fortune 500 company!
